Selon nos informations fournies par Abdoulaye Sadio Diallo, l’un de ses proches collaborateurs, cet évènement se tient chaque année pour rendre hommage aux écrivains africains. Cette année la cérémonie était placée sous le Haut patronage de Monsieur Macky Sall, Président de la République du Sénégal « premier protecteur des Arts et des Lettres ». Elle réunit les écrivains africains et ceux de la Diaspora pour célébrer la journée de l’écrivain africain. Avec des thèmes, distinctions et prix à décerner aux Écrivains selon leur travail visible aussi bien dans leur pays qu’au niveau du continent. Cette année le thème porte sur : Littérature et immigration. Les délégués surtout les lauréats des pays bénéficient souvent de l’accompagnement des ambassadeurs accrédités et des ressortissants des différents pays.
